Karpacz offers excellent conditions for winter sports. Beginning skiers may practice at more than ten skiing slopes around town, all with skiing equipment rental.
Most of the slopes are artificially snowed and lighted, so you can ski until late evening.
The most demanding skiers may go to the skiing complex "Śnieżka". There are seven ski lifts and six ski tracks with different levels of difficulty.
Among other attractions are the ski jump "Orlinek", a beautifully located Nordic walking route and skating rinks.

![]() | 1602 meters above sea level, Śnieżka is the highest peak in the Sudety mountains. On the top there is the XVII century chapel of St. Laurence - patron of guides, the Meteorological Observatory of IMGW with its characteristically shaped saucer and a closed Czech hostel. Śnieżka is an excellent viewing point. From the Czech side of Pec p. Snezkou you may use a chair lift to get to the top of the mountain. |
| Ecological Education Point - the Meteorological Exhibition is located in the Meteorological Observatory at the top of Śnieżka, where you can see an exhibition of meteorological devices, visit the observatory and see the beautiful mountainous landscape from the viewing terrace. |
| The Karkonosze mountains are known for their deep post glacial pits surrounded by steep rocks. The Wielki Staw and Mały Staw pits, located in the eastern part of the mountains, are the most famous ones. The height of their slopes reaches 250 meters. Wielki Staw is the biggest lake in Karkonosze, its area is about 8,3 ha and its depth reaches 24 meters. Mały Staw is one of the most beautiful places in Karkonosze, with a lake of 2,9 ha and a depth of 7 meters. |
| A hostel named Hermitage (Samotnia) overlooks the Mały Staw lake. It was built as a mountain cabin and named after its long-term manager, Waldemar Siemiaszka. |
| Cable Railway to the Kopa mountain (1375m above sea level). Length - 2229 m, difference - 530 m, capacity - 600 people/hour. Since 1959 it has enabled tourists to reach the highest peak of Karkonosze and it allows for the operation of the skiing center Kopa - Złotówka. |
| The wild waterfall - located near the lower station of the chair lift to Kopa. The water falls down for a few meters as a result of the anti-rubble dam on the Łomnica river. |
![]() ![]() | On the northern slopes of the mountains there are many lonely granite rocks. Their fantastic shapes are a result of a long and complex erosion process which caused the removal of their elements being less resistant to atmospheric conditions. The biggest ones are the Pilgrims (pielgrzymy) located over the Clearing in the eastern part of Karkonosze. They include three huge granite rocks, the highest being25 meters. The most characteristic rock overlooking Karpacz Górny and its neighborhood is the Sunlower (Słonecznik). It is located on the northern slope of Karkonosze, 1423 meters high, and it can be seen from almost everywhere in the Jeleniogórska Valley. There are numerous legends related with this rock. |
| The medieval Wang Temple is the most famous place in Karpacz. It was created in the XII century near the Vang lake in southern Norway. In the XIX century it was transported to Karpacz thanks to count von Reden from the nearby village of Bukowiec. Some elements are original and some are faithful copies made by local crafters. | The Karkonosze area Museum of Sport and Recreation is located in a cottager hut from XVIII century. | The granite and gneiss cliff in the eastern part of the town is called Krucze Skały. The rocks are 25 meters high and contain numerous clusters of pegmatite. In the XIX century, during their excavation, two artificial caves were cut in the rocks. Many professional and amateur climbers come here to practice. |
| The Fourth of July 1998 (Independence Day in the United States) was the date an original Country Town was opened. It is located between Karpacz and Ścięgna and allows all visitors to move back in time - you can see a real sheriff, visit a saloon or even witness a bank robbery or invasion of Indians. The initiator and founder of this place is Mr. Jerzy Pokój, a long-term director of the Karkonosze Voluntary Mountain Rescue Team. |
| The summer sledge route KOLOROWA was launched on 18 July 1998. It enables visitors to take pleasure in sledging not only in winter, as it is always open when there is no snow on the mountain slopes. Its heated surface enables sledging even if the temperature is below zero. The length of the route is 1060 meters, uphill - 350 meters, the duration of downhill drive - about 5 minutes, maximum speed (regulated by automatic brakes) - 30km/h.
